Blog #6

I'm a little confused whether I'm supposed to write about revisions again, or fiction that I like in this post. But since I really don't have much more to say about revisions I'll talk about some fiction that I love.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey, I had to read this my senior year in high school. It was cool because my teacher had us do group projects about the 70's before we started reading it and I got to do a whole slide show presentation on Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, the Woodstock Festival etc. I love that generation, even though I didn't live through it so I got really excited to read this. It started off very weird and I got a little disappointed I wasn't going to like it much but it turned out to be one of my favorites. There was a movie made on it starring Jack Nicholson, which was a great movie but I didn't think it compared at all to how great the book was. In fact, a lot was different about the movie from the book which I didn't like. So if anyone's ever seen the movie, I'd definitely suggest reading the book as well.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, another book I had to read in high school and by far the most inspirational. I found myself underlining a lot of quotable things from it throughout the whole read. It also made me think a lot about life, love, destiny, dreams and all that. It gives you such great perspectives on living while telling you this interesting story. What I also loved was that it's a very short book so it was a pretty quick read.
All time classic right here! And not to mention the movie adaptation provided lots of hunks haha. But seriously, I loved this book, I never thought I'd get so into a gang story before I read this. "Stay gold Ponyboy..stay gold." <3 I think I might read it again soon.
My first recreational read, not including Dr. Suess or anything by Beverly Cleary. I think I was 12 or 13 when I ordered this from Scholastic so I'm not sure if my peers today would like it but I just remember finishing it in 2 days because I couldn't put it down. And the fact that it was based on rape made me feel like I was reading such a grown up book.

So I think I'll stop there, there's a lot more books I love but basically what I'm trying to say in this post, is that I pretty much love it all. Except for maybe Sci-fi. The closest to sci-fi that I ever read was The Host by Stephenie Meyer, but then again, it's Stephenie Meyer, so I'm not sure she counts.
