My View on Revisions.

Due to a personal issue, I had to skip class yesterday but I see everyone is blogging about their opinions on revisions, so here is mine.

Revisions are absolutely necessary, but not at all fun, especially in comparison to the moment when you're getting your thoughts down and it's just flowing right out of you. I love just writing what I feel at that very moment without thinking too into it so a lot of the time, my work needs a lot of revising and I often revise my own first drafts before letting anyone else see them. I'm not biased about others revising my work. On one hand, I love the feedback from my audience because after all, I'm not just writing for myself but I'm also writing for others to read and, hopefully, relate to. However on the other hand, getting feedback from others can get a bit annoying, especially when there is something in my poetry that means something to me personally and someone says they either hate it or suggest I change or get rid of it. I believe opinions are crucial to my, or any writers' writing, however, no one should tell someone else "how to" express themselves. I often feel uncomfortable during the workshopping part of class because I don't like telling people "I don't like this" or what I think should be changed and what not. So though I feel it is necessary for something good to be bettered, the process of revision is not as fun as the actual writing experience.
